abstract The invention relates to new quaternary groups containing acrylyl or. Methacrylyl ureas and homopolymers and copolymers prepared from these compounds and the use of these homopolymers and copolymers as flocculation, sedimentation, drainage and retention aids. The compounds are prepared by reaction from the corresponding halogen-substituted ureas with trialkylamines, preferably in a solvent. Because of their double bond, they can be polymerized to give homopolymers and copolymers which are suitable as flocculation, sedimentation, drainage and retention aids.
