titleOfInvention Vapor exchange
abstract Method and apparatus for treating materials such as tobacco and the like by vapor transfer in such a way that the treated material does not become stained due to condensation. The material to be treated is transported through a treatment zone delimited by a permeable element which separates the treatment zone from an immediately adjacent zone with high vapor density. The vapor passes through the permeable element and goes directly into the material at a continuous rate, most of the vapor, passing from the vapor zone into the treatment zone, being entrained by the material. The moderate and continuous flow of steam through the bed of material provides rapid vapor transfer and excellent distribution of fast steam in the treated material.
