abstract | Process for the preparation of tertiary 2-carboxyethyl and carboxymethylphosphines and their salts of the general formulas P (CH 2 - CH 2 - COOMe), I or RP (CH 2 - COOMe) 2 11, where Me is hydrogen, alkali metal or NR ' 4 radical where R 'is hydrogen and / or alkyl or aryl and R can be an optionally substituted aryl group having 6 to 14 carbon atoms by first saponifying the corresponding cyanoalkylphosphines with an aqueous alcoholic alkali metal hydroxide solution, then the aqueous solution of the acid salts with a treated acidic ion exchanger and the free acids optionally neutralized with an alkali metal hydroxide or ammonia or an amine.n n n The tertiary 2-carboxyethyl and carboxymethylphosphines thus produced are used as a catalyst component in the oligomerization of ethylene with the aid of a nickel catalyst. |
