abstract A stabilized liquid hydrogen peroxide bleach composition suitable for household use which comprises from 2-12% by weight hydrogen peroxide, 0-20% by weight of an acid selected from an organic acid, phosphoric acid, boric acid or mixtures thereof, 0.1-7.5% by weight of a nitrogen-containing compound, 0.0001-1 % by weight of a compound selected from the group consisting of optical brighteners, dyes and mixtures thereof, and water, wherein the weight ratio of hydrogen peroxide to nitrogen-containing compound is within the range of from 1:0.003 to 1:1.5, the composition contains sufficient acid to have a pH within the range of from 1.8-5.5
