abstract Octahydro-1H-pyrrolo [2,3-g] isoquinolines of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkanoyl, aroyl or aralkyl, R2 and R3, independently of one another hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, acyl, aryl or aralkyl and R4 is hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, phenyl-hydroxyalkyl, halophenylhydroxyalkyl, alkylphenyl-hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyphenyl-hydroxyalky, alkoxy-alkyl, aryloxy-hydroxyalkyl, alkoxy-hydroxyalkyl, acyloxyalkyl, arylcarbonylalkyl, alkoxycarbonaylalkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, alkylcycloalkyl, alkynyl, thienylalkyl , Furyl-alkyl, arylcarboxamido-alkyl, acylalkyl, cycl.-alkyloxoalkyl, cycl.-alkylhydroxyalkyl, alkenyloxyalkyl, aralkenyl, aryloxyalkyl, N-alkyl-pyrrolidinylalkyl, trifluoroalkyl, with 2 to 6 carbon atoms, aryl-N-imidazolonylalkyl or <IMAGE> Hydrogen or alkyl or together with the nitrogen atom mean a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring and X is OO or S, their optical and geometric isomers and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition Lze have valuable neuroleptic / antipsychotic activities and can therefore be used to treat schizophrenia.
