titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of 6-hydroxypyrid-2-ones |
abstract | In the process for the preparation of 6-hydroxypyrid-2-ones of the formula I <IMAGE> in which R represents hydrogen or an optionally branched alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, cyanoacetamides of the formula II <IMAGE> with acetoacetic acid esters of the formula III <IMAGE > wherein R1 denotes an aliphatic radical with 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a cycloaliphatic radical with 3 to 6 carbon atoms, in the presence of at least one mole of an amine of the formula IV <IMAGE> in aqueous solution or suspension under a pressure of 0.5 to 50 bar heated to temperatures between 50 and 200 ° C. The 6-hydroxypyrid-2-ones thus produced are used for the production of azo dyes. |
