titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of homo- and copolymers of alpha-monoolefins
abstract The invention is within the scope of a process for the production of homo- and copolymers of α-monoolefins by polymerizing the monomer (s) at relatively low temperatures under relatively low pressures using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst made from (I) a titanium chloride component and ( II) an aluminum alkyl component.n n n It is characteristic of the process according to the invention that the titanium chloride component (I) used is one which is obtained by using a catalyst component which is customarily used and which consists of titanium tri- or titanium tetrachloride or consists essentially of titanium tri- or titanium tetrachloride exposed to a carbon dioxide atmosphere under certain conditions.n n n Titanium chloride components (I) treated in this way are distinguished by the fact that they have a relatively long induction period.
