abstract Fire protection material based on alkali metal silicates with a water content of 20 to 60 percent by weight. The fire protection material contains 1 to 10 percent by weight of a borate or aluminate, preferably sodium aluminate, to improve the aging resistance. The fire protection material can be used to insulate openings and passages on buildings against the passage of fire and smoke, and as fire protection glass.
