titleOfInvention Process for preparing acetylaminobenzenes
abstract The N-acetoacetylamino compounds of 2,5-dimethoxy-4-chloroaniline, 2,4-dimethylaniline and 2-methyl-5-chloroaniline are obtained in good yield and excellent purity if the anilines mentioned are in an inert organic Solvents or diluents in the presence of 0.1-6%, based on the weight of the aniline, react water with the addition of catalytic amounts of acid with diketene. An industrial grade aniline is preferably dried by heating with a solvent which forms an azeotrope with water, and then the required amount of water is added. The products can be used as diazo components for the production of pigments without purification.
