Metal complexes of the formula I <IMAGE> in which X is <IMAGE> and the benzene or naphthalene nucleus formed by X with the rest of the molecule also by one or two substituents from the series methyl, methoxy, chlorine, bromine, trifluoromethyl, nitro, Cyan, CONR¹R² or COOR³, where R¹ and R² are hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R³ is alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Me means a nickel, copper, zinc or cobalt atom , are prepared by reacting 3-formyl-4-methyl-2,6-dihydroxy-pyridine with an ortho-amino-hydroxy compound of the formula III <IMAGE> and then metallizing the condensation product obtained. The metal complexes of formula I are used as pigments, e.g. used for pigmenting high molecular weight plastic masses and printing pastes and in particular paints. |
