The invention relates to a process for the preparation of aqueous suspensions containing at least 65% by weight of calcium carbonate.n n n According to the invention, calcium carbonate is crystallized in a dilute aqueous medium, in the presence of a water-soluble polyelectrolyte, a wet concentrate of calcium carbonate is separated from the dilute aqueous suspension of calcium carbonate, using a means of mechanical separation, and said calcium carbonate concentrate is fluidized and homogenized in the presence of a dispersing agent.n n n The invention applies to the preparation of concentrated, stable suspensions of calcium carbonate crystals, intended for the paper industry. |
