abstract | A composition to inhibit metal corrosion in the removal of acidic amine gas units caused by CO2 and O2 gases. The composition is composed of 5 to 10 percent by weight of hydroxybenzoic acid, 20 to 30 percent of the weight of a reaction product of high maleated oil in fatty acids and polyhydroxy polyalkane of ammonium or potassium hydroxide, of 5 to 15 per hundred weight of quaternary tallow diamine or alkanediol dichloride or mixtures; 15 to 30 percent by weight alkanol or alkanolamine; up to 50 percent water weight and up to 10 percent antifoaming agent weight. The composition, when added to an aqueous alkanolamine solution, effectively inhibits the corrosion of metals in contact with the aqueous alkanolamine solution. |
