A process for preparing the highly pure cefuroxime 1-acetoxyethyl ester in substantially amorphous form, characterized in that; a) prepare a solution containing 1 to 30% by mass / mass (m / m) of cefuroxime 1-acetoxyethyl ester in an organic solvent and in a homogeneous mixture of organic solvents and water, and b) the solution is subjected to spray drying using air or an inert drying gas, at a gas inlet temperature of 50 to 140oC and at a gas outlet temperature of 45 to 100oC, thereby recovering from said 1-acetoxyethyl ester solution of cefuroxime in a highly pure and substantially amorphous form. |
