The invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of pharmaceutically active ingredients and also to high-purity salts and pharmaceutical compositions obtained using this method. In particular, the invention relates to an economically advantageous method for the preparation of a compound having an international non-proprietary name (INN) vortioxetine and the chemical name of 1- [2- (2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl) phenyl] piperazine. Vortioxetine corresponds to the following formula I. In particular, the invention relates to the preparation of a high-purity vortioxetine L - (+) - mandelate salt of formula IX, the conversion of this salt to other salts of high purity and also to the formulation of these salts. |
