| abstract |
A method for modifying the characteristics of the surface of alumina is described, comprising the following steps: (i) obtaining an aqueous mixture comprising one part by mass of aluminum oxide and a monomeric or polymeric compound of aluminum corresponding to 0.001-0.1 wt.h. on aluminum content; (ii) equilibrating this mixture for at least 5 minutes; (iii) raising the pH of the mixture to 6-8 and (iv) drying the mixture, and this method includes the additional step of raising the pH of the mixture to 3.0-5.0 between stages (i) and (ii) when the specified aluminum compound is monomeric. |
