abstract Describes compositions containing Eno1 for delivery to the muscle. In addition, according to the present invention, a method for normalizing blood glucose in a subject with a high blood glucose content is provided, comprising administering enolase 1 (Eno1) to the subject, thereby normalizing blood glucose in a subject. The present invention also provides methods for treating one or more conditions, including impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, prediabetes, and diabetes mellitus, in particular type 2 diabetes in a subject, including administration of enolase 1 (Eno1) to the subject, thereby carrying out the treatment of the condition in the subject. In the methods of the invention, Eno1 is delivered to the muscle.
