abstract This invention relates to a method for the selective hydrogenation of vegetable oils. In particular, the invention relates to a method of hydrogenating vegetable oils, allowing for the selective conversion of polyunsaturated fatty acids to monounsaturated fatty acids, and to the products obtained through this. Vegetable oils obtained using the method according to the invention have, in particular, a high content of monounsaturated fatty acids and, in particular, are suitable for use as raw materials for the synthesis of chemical intermediates.
