The application describes a method for the production of sulfate or phosphate fertilizers from hydrogen sulfide. The method involves feeding a stream containing a significant amount of hydrogen sulfide and air into a furnace in which it is burned in order to produce a stream with a high content of sulfur dioxide gas. Then a stream of high sulfur dioxide gas is fed to the reactor in order to obtain a stream of sulfuric acid of the spent stream containing carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, trace contaminants and trace amounts of unreacted sulfur dioxide. Finally, the conversion of a stream of sulfuric acid into a sulphate or phosphate fertilizer is carried out. |
