titleOfInvention ELASTIC, DISPENSABLE IN WATER POLYURETHANE FOAMS AND CONTAINING THEIR PRODUCTS
abstract A soft and flexible, cold water dispersible polyurethane foam suitable for disposable personal care products is provided, which is obtained by combining corn syrup, glycerin, polyether diamine, PEG, diisocyanate, water and a catalyst. The formulation and reaction conditions for producing the claimed foam are judiciously chosen and carefully controlled to obtain water dispersibility and desired mechanical properties. The intrinsic elasticity or percentage of elastic recovery of foams is typically greater than 75%, and foams are readily produced as soft foams exhibiting a relative compression value of 20 to 150% of the relative compression of industrial polyurethane foams in cosmetic pads that are not dispersible in water. Foam can be incorporated into webs and stacked products or foldable 3D products.
