abstract A method has been created for disinfecting a volume or surface that limits the volume, including spraying a solution that includes a sterilizing agent in a solvent that has a lower boiling point than a sterilizing agent, such as ultrasonic spraying of aqueous hydrogen peroxide, to form a sprayable substance. The substance to be sprayed is exposed to energy of the kind and for a period of time that is sufficient for the preferred evaporation of the solvent rather than the sterilizing agent, for example, by means of a heating element, means generating infrared, laser, microwave, radio frequency or other radiation; means of induction heating; heat exchange facilities; conductive means; convection means or means of transmitting mechanical energy. To increase the concentration of the agent in the particles of the sprayed substance, the evaporated solvent is removed from the gas stream at atmospheric or higher pressure, and, if necessary, the sprayed substance is cooled to a temperature below 70 ° C. The sprayed substance acts on the volume or surface for a time sufficient to sterilize the specified volume or surfaces. It is also proposed a device for implementing this method.
