abstract | The present invention relates to benzimidazole derivatives of formula (I), wherein: R <1> is H, C1-6 alkyl, Cycloalkyl; R1 is H, Calkyl; or R and R together with nitrogen form a 4 or 5 membered heterocyclic ring; R 5 is BR or R, where B represents a bridging group —C (O) NH—, —C (O) NC alkyl or —C (O) O— and R represents H, C1-6 alkyl, Salkenyl or halo (preferably fluoro); and each n is an integer independently selected from 0, 1, or 2 (preferably 0 or 1); and geometric isomers or mixtures thereof; and their physiologically functional derivatives, and their use in medical therapy, in particular, for the treatment or prevention of viral infections, such as infections caused by the herpes virus. The invention also relates to their preparation and pharmaceutical preparations containing them. The international application was published together with an international search report. |
