abstract | A 1, 3-oxazin-4-ones of formula (I) are proposed wherein R is phenyl optionally substituted; R 5 represents a linear or branched alkyl of one to ten carbon atoms, substituted by one or more groups R, which may be the same or different, a linear or branched, optionally halogenated alkenyl or alkynyl group having up to ten carbon atoms, or a group selected from cyano, - CHO, -COR, -COH, -COR, -COSr, -CONRR, -CH = NOH, -CH = NOR, -CH = NOCOR, -CH = NNRR, -CHCN, -CHNO, and oxiranil; R represents phenyl, optionally substituted, or R represents the first five to seven membered heteroaromatic ring, the first ring being optionally condensed and bonded to the nitrogen atom of the group NR via one of the carbon atoms in the ring; R 10 and R 10 independently represent lower alkyl; W represents -NR-; R 5 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, —COR or COR; and their use as herbicides.
