This invention relates to new oxaindene derivatives of the general formula where R represents lower C 6 alkyl, lower C 1-6 alkoxy group or lower C 1 cycloalkyl, R 6 represents lower hydrogen, lower C 6-6 alkyl or lower C 1 3 cycloalkyl, R 2 represents hydrogen, lower C 6 6 alkyl, lower S 1 1 3 or lower 3-benzyl, and a is in a. benzoyl or naphthoyl, optionally substituted with one or more nitro or C 1-6 alkoxy group (s) or a group of the formula RR = NR, where R, R1 and R5 each represent C1-6 alkylene, or R4 and R4 together with volume nitrogen to which they are attached form a piperidyl or morpholino group, A and B together form an ethylene or vinylene group, and n is 1, 2 or 3, and exhibiting a strong inhibitory activity on the enzyme 5-Lipoxygenase (5-LO); The invention also relates to a method for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions based on them. |
