abstract The application generally describes the Fischer-Tropsch method, in particular the Fischer-Tropsch method, designed to convert a feed containing a mixture of hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide, preferably in the form of a mixture of synthesis gas, into hydrocarbons, carried out by introducing a catalyst containing cobalt in a reactor for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis in interaction with a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide at a pressure of 4.0 MPa abs. or more, where the method is initiated by a start-up procedure comprising the steps of: i) feeding a feed containing a mixture of hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide, preferably in the form of a synthesis gas mixture, to a reactor comprising a cobalt-containing Fischer-Tropsch catalyst, where the pressure inside the reactor is equal to 3.5 MPa abs. or less; and ii) maintaining the feed to the reactor, removing the hydrocarbon-containing product stream, and maintaining the pressure inside the reactor at 3.5 MPa abs. or less for at least 15 hours, preferably for at least 50 hours.
