The invention relates to the identification, molecular characterization and use of genes and markers from a chromosomal interval containing a cold hardiness locus in maize. The invention also relates to the development of molecular markers to promote growth, in particular, to prevent the fixation of "selective sweep" at a site with a low recombination frequency and to obtain transgenic and non-transgenic corn plants with new or increased cold resistance. |
