titleOfInvention | FUSION PROTEINS FOR TREATMENT OF GRAM-POSITIVE BACTERIA INFECTIONS |
abstract | The invention relates to antimicrobial agents active against gram-positive bacteria, namely, fusion proteins including endolysin with the function of destroying the cell wall of gram-positive bacteria and an amphipathic peptide chain fused with endolysin at the N- and / or C-terminus. In addition, the invention relates to nucleic acid molecules encoding the claimed fusion protein, vectors comprising the claimed nucleic acid molecules, and host cells containing either the claimed nucleic acid molecules or the claimed vectors. Additionally, the invention relates to the use of the claimed fusion protein as a medicament, in particular in the treatment or prevention of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria, as a diagnostic tool or as a component of a cosmetic preparation. The invention also relates to the treatment or prevention of gram-positive bacteria contamination of food products, equipment in food processing plants, surfaces in contact with food, medical equipment, surfaces in hospitals and surgical units. In addition, the invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the claimed fusion protein. |
