The invention relates to a method for the production of ethanol, including the stage of pre-treatment of lignocellulosic plant materials, which includes the stages of the degradation of lignocellulosic plant materials, followed by separation, on the one hand, of cellulose (C6), which can then be hydrolyzed (and fermented to produce ethanol) on the other hand, hemicelluloses, which can then be hydrolyzed, and lignins, characterized in that the hydrolysis of cellulose and hemicelluloses is carried out sequentially in accordance with the following stages, which are i) enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose using at least one enzyme during the first period with the aim of obtaining an intermediate hydrolyzate; ii) adding hemicelluloses to said intermediate hydrolyzate; iii) continuing the enzymatic hydrolysis of the mixture to obtain the final hydrolyzate at the end of the entire period of enzymatic hydrolysis. |
