abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing lactide, comprising the steps of providing a solution of lactic acid in a volatile organic solvent; exposure of the solution to the evaporation stage to remove volatile organic solvent and water, which leads to the formation of a composition containing a lactic acid oligomer; adding a catalyst to a composition containing a lactic acid oligomer, and adjusting the mixture to reaction conditions to form a lactide. It was found that the method according to the invention leads to the efficient production of lactide with a high production rate and good product quality. |
