A method is described for extracting a product of dialkyl succinate, dialkyl maleate or dialkyl succinate and dialkyl maleate from an overhead stream from an esterification reaction column, said overhead stream containing alkanol and water as a main component, and as a secondary component, a product of dialkyl succinate, dialkyl maleate, dialkyl succinate and dialkyl succinate and an azeotrope with water, where the specified method includes washing the overhead stream with butanol. |
