The invention relates to genetically modified microorganisms capable of producing β-glucans, characterized in that said genetically modified microorganism overexpresses: (i) a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having a 1,3-β-D-glucan synthase activity, and / or (ii) a polypeptide , having 1,3-β-D-glucan synthase activity, compared with the corresponding unmodified microorganism of the same strain. The invention also relates to the use of a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having 1,3-β-D-glucan synthase activity, or the use of said polypeptide to produce β-glucans. In addition, the invention relates to methods for producing β-glucans, including the introduction of a promoter in front of a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having a 1,3-β-D-glucan synthase activity, thereby increasing the expression of said polynucleotide, or before a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having synthase activity 1,3-β-D-glucan, a microorganism capable of synthesizing β-glucans. |
