The invention relates generally to a method for producing products, in particular alcohols, by microbiological fermentation. In particular, the invention relates to methods for increasing the efficiency of fermentation by providing a method for treating the used fermentation broth to produce a treated filtrate, which is then returned to the bioreactor. The invention provides a method in which at least one processing step is used to treat the filtrate to produce a gaseous product, which is then used in one or more stages of the fermentation process. |
