The invention relates to binding molecules, such as human monoclonal antibodies, that bind to an influenza virus containing an H3 subtype HA, such as H3N2, and have a wide range of neutralizing activity directed against such influenza viruses. The invention also relates to nucleic acid molecules encoding antibodies, to their sequences, to compositions containing said antibodies, and to methods for identifying or producing such antibodies. These antibodies can be used to diagnose, prevent, and / or treat an infection caused by the H3N2 influenza virus. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said antibodies provide cross-protection against infections caused by viruses of different subtypes, as a result of which prevention and / or treatment of infections caused by influenza viruses of the H3, H7 and / or H10 subtypes can be carried out. |
