abstract The invention relates to the field of petrochemistry, in particular the production of alkyl cyclopentadienes, which are synthons for modern synthetic oils with a high viscosity index and viscosity-temperature properties. The task of the invention is to obtain alkyl cyclopentadienes, which are the starting compounds for the synthesis of synthetic lubricating oils with a high viscosity index, alkylation of cyclopentadiene with C-C aliphatic alcohols in the presence of a nanoscale heterogeneous catalytic system at a relatively low temperature with a high yield. The synthesis of alkylated cyclopentadienes was carried out by alkylation of cyclopentadiene with C – C aliphatic alcohols in the presence of a nano-sized catalyst containing magnesium oxide at a temperature of 180–200 ° C in 64–69% yield.
