abstract | A method for producing dialkyl succinate from a bioantharic acid source, comprising the steps of supplying bioantharic acid to a point on the bottom of a column with or near a reaction distillation zone, operating at temperatures and pressures to allow esterification of succinic acid, and passing said stream in parallel with an ascending alkanol in that the esterification reaction takes place; removing the overhead vapor stream from above or near the top of the column with the reactive distillation zone containing diester, alkanol, esterification water and organic components, and passing the stream into the column to separate the alkanol, where the alkanol is separated from the esterification water and organic components; removal of the side stream from the column for separating the alkanol from a point below the feed point, where said side ring contains partially immiscible organic and aqueous phases; the transmission of the specified side product through a phase separator, where partially immiscible organic and aqueous phases are separated; passing said organic phase through a column, where the dialkyl succinate is separated from the residual water and other organic components; and the isolation of dialkyl succinate. |
