abstract The invention relates to the use of a modified fragment of agrin, active in vivo and containing at least the domains LG2 and LG3 of human agrin or mouse in a covalently bonded form and containing between the indicated domains a modified β-cleavage site that cannot be cleaved by neurotrypsin, the specified fragment of agrin contains the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 11, SEQ ID NO: 12, SEQ ID NO: 13 or SEQ ID NO: 14 for the manufacture of a medicine for the treatment of neurotrypsin-related diseases, in particular affecting muscle neuromuscular disease or diseases of the nerves, muscles and neuromuscular joints, such as muscle atrophy caused by inaction, or body depletion syndrome.
