abstract | The invention relates to a method for the purification of 1- [2- (2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl) phenyl] piperazine-HBr, comprising steps a) of obtaining a solution by dissolving 1- [2- (2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl) phenyl] piperazine-HBr in a solvent, containing more than 65% (by volume) of isopropanol; b) precipitating 1- [2- (2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl) phenyl] piperazine-HBr isopropanol solvate from the solution obtained above; c) dissolving the isopropanol solvate of 1- [2- (2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl) phenyl] piperazine-HBr in a solvent that does not form a solvate; and d) precipitating 1- [2- (2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl) phenyl] piperazine-HBr from the solution obtained in step c). The present invention also relates to a novel compound, which is the 1- [2- (2,4-dimethylphenylsulfanyl) phenyl] piperazine-HBr isopropanol solvate, which is characterized by peaks of an x-ray powder diffraction pattern of approximately 6.44, 8.13, 8.77, 10 , 41 (° 2Θ) and has a X-ray powder diffraction pattern shown in FIG. 2 |
