SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention provides single component sustained release injectable formulations that contain microspheres containing active pharmaceutical ingredients (e.g., exenatide), while the microspheres are suspended in a non-aqueous vehicle. The non-aqueous carrier may be oil, fractionated oil, triglycerides, diglycerides, monoglycerides, diesters of propylene glycol and fatty acids, etc. The proposed formulations provide obvious advantages characteristic of a long shelf life, expressed in the stability and activity of the composition and the slow release of active pharmaceutical ingredients with a reduced frequency of dosage of the drug and more careful implementation of the doctor’s instructions by the patient. |
