abstract The invention relates to the use of a compound (C) containing silicon as a drying agent for a polyolefin composition containing a crosslinkable polyolefin with hydrolyzable silane groups (A), where the compound (C) containing silicon has a structure of the formula where R is monofunctional or, if m equal to 2, then a bifunctional hydrocarbon residue containing from 1 to 100 carbon atoms and at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group selected from —O—, —O— (CO) -, —NH, —NH, —NH- (CO ) -NH, -NH- (CO) -OCH, epoxy groups, carbam an atomic group, -S-, -SO-, -SO-, -NR-, -PR-, where R represents a hydrocarbon residue or hydrogen, moreover, if x is 2 or 3, these residues may be the same or different; R represents a hydrocarbon ether residue containing from 1 to 100 carbon atoms, wherein, if y is 2 or more, these residues may be the same or different; R is —RSiRR, where p is from 0 to 3, q is from 0 to 3, provided that p + q is 3, and R is - (CH) Y (CH), where r and t are independently equal from 1 to 3, s is 0 or 1, Y is a bifunctional heteroatomic group selected from —O—, —O— (CO) -, —NH—, —NH, —NH- (CO) —NH, —NH - (CO) —OCH, an epoxy group, a carbamate group, —S—, —SO—, —SO—, —NR—, —PR—, where R is a hydrocarbon residue or hydrogen and where R and R have the above meanings; and x is from 0 to 3, y is from 1 to 4, z is 0 or 1, provided that x + y + z is 4; and m is 1 or 2, where the polyolefin composition further comprises a silanol condensation catalyst (B) containing an organic sulfonic acid of the formula where Ar is an aryl group which is substituted by at least one C — C hydrocarbon group and the total number of C atoms in the silanol condensation catalyst (B) is from 10 to 200.
