titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR REMOVING SUBSTANCES FROM LIQUID FLOW |
abstract | A method for removing solutes and / or particles from a liquid stream, comprising flocculation by vigorously mixing polysaccharides or hydrocolloids with a liquid stream and subsequent gel formation of polysaccharides or hydrocolloids with cations capable of causing the formation of the aforementioned gel. Large, strong gel agglomerates of contaminant and polysaccharide or hydrocolloid are formed using suitable cations. Gel agglomerates are well suited for separation from a liquid stream by flotation, on a sieve, in a centrifuge, cyclone, or using other conventional separation methods. Also proposed is a method of mixing insoluble polysaccharide or hydrocolloid with a contaminated water stream under the influence of shear forces to improve logistics and save costs when cleaning large volumes of water. The use of dilute polysaccharide solutions for treating a variety of wastewater streams is also proposed. The use of this invention is proposed for the removal of hydrocarbons in the oil industry, as well as for other types of water containing oil, as well as water contaminated with organic substances or contaminated with particles. |
