titleOfInvention | DEVICE FOR DISINFECTION |
abstract | A sprayable agent suitable for sterilization, including finely divided liquid droplets suspended in a gas, said droplets comprising a solute, which is predominantly hydrogen peroxide and a solvent, for example water, where the droplets have a concentration of more than 60% by weight of solute and an average diameter less than 1.0 μm, preferably less than 0.8 μm. Sterilization using a sprayable agent can be carried out in a suitably adapted device by spraying a solution comprising a sterilizing agent in a solvent to form a sprayable agent from finely divided particles of a solution in a gas stream, and this solution includes a solvent having a lower boiling point than the sterilizing agent; exposing the spray agent to energy of that type and for a period of time sufficient to evaporate the solvent in preference to the sterilizing agent, whereby the concentration of the agent in the particles of the sprayed substance is increased; removing the evaporated solvent from the gas stream at a pressure equal to or above atmospheric, and, if necessary, cooling the sprayed agent to a temperature below 70 ° C and exposing the surface to be sterilized with a sprayed substance of the sterilizing agent for a time sufficient to sterilize the surface. |
