A description is given of consumer food products with a low content of oils or fats containing a natural preservative system, as well as a method for their preparation. The preservative system contains a mixture of aliphatic and aromatic isothiocyanates and is suitable for use in a variety of consumer products with staged refrigeration as well as temperature cycling to produce a low fat consumer food product that is microbiologically stable and harmless and free of undesirable mustard and/or spicy flavors. |
