abstract The invention presents a new method of obtaining escitalopram. The method includes chromatographic separation of the enantiomers of citalopram or an intermediate to obtain citalopram using a chiral stationary phase, such as Chiralpak ™ AD or Chiralcel ™ OD. New chiral intermediates for the synthesis of escitalopram obtained by this method are also presented.
