titleOfInvention | DEVICE FOR AMPLIFICATION OF OPTICAL SIGNAL |
abstract | The invention relates to the field of optics, in particular to the technique of lasers and optical amplifiers, and can be used to amplify the optical signal and obtain lasing. A device for amplifying an optical signal consists of one or more pump sources and a closed volume that has, for example, a toroidal shape. Inside the closed volume entered one or more segments of the amplifying optical fiber, the input and output of which are derived outside the closed volume. A closed volume has one or more input windows for pumping radiation and provides conditions for the total internal reflection of optical radiation from the pumping source, so that the pump radiation repeatedly passes through the closed volume and crosses the amplifying fiber, creating population inversion of quantum energy levels in it and thereby enhancing optical signal propagating through the amplifying optical fiber. The proposed device is an effective fiber amplifier, which can have one or several independent pairs of inputs / outputs, can be easily manufactured without creating special production conditions and using complex production equipment. An additional advantage of the device is the possibility of using cheap laser pump sources with low beam quality. |
