abstract The present invention relates to a method for producing a quaternary ammonium salt of fibroic acid. This method, which can be represented by the following reaction scheme: is carried out in a single step using, as starting materials, a phenol of the formula (I), an α-gelated ester of the formula (II) and a quaternary ammonium hydroxide of the formula (III) as defined in the claims . In particular, this method makes it possible to economically obtain a salt of choline and fenofibroic acid with high purity, which can be directly used as an active substance in drugs for human use.
