abstract The present invention relates to a process for the production of a polymer film or fibers, wherein a polymer composition containing a propylene homopolymer or copolymer is formed into a film or fibers, and wherein said propylene homopolymer or copolymer is produced by a process that comprises polymerizing propylene monomers or propylene monomers and one or more types comonomers in the presence of a highly productive Ziegler-Natta catalyst for the polymerization of olefins, which contains one of the components in the form of particles having a size in a certain range, and which was obtained by a method containing: a) preparing a solution of a complex of a Group 2 metal and an electron donor by reaction between the compound said metal and said electron donor or its precursor in a reaction medium of an organic liquid; b) reacting said complex in solution with a transition metal compound to obtain an emulsion, the dispersed phase of which contains more than 50 mol% of a Group 2 metal in said complex; c) maintaining the particle size of said dispersed phase within the range of 5-200 μm by stirring in the presence of an emulsion stabilizer; and d) solidifying said particles and recovering, for example by washing, said particles to obtain said catalyst component. The invention also relates to polypropylene products obtained by this method and to the use of polypropylene products in the production of films and fibers.
