abstract The invention describes a hydrocarbon-based drilling fluid with the addition of polymer latex capable of forming a deformable latex seal at least in the area of the reservoir rock of the subterranean formation, slowing down the filtration of the mud or controlling its absorption, and acting as a plugging material if used when drilling wells in reservoir rocks for hydrocarbon production. Polymer latex is usually an aqueous suspension of particles, which is obtained by emulsion polymerization and, in turn, is emulsified in a hydrocarbon-based solution. Suitable sized particles are deposited in the pores of the reservoir rock of the subterranean formation, densifying at least a portion of the formation to form a deformable polymer film.
