titleOfInvention | COMBINED SCHEME OF ERYTHROPOIETIN DOSING |
abstract | This invention relates to a combined dosage regimen of erythropoietin (EPO). More specifically, this dosing schedule includes the use of at least a first dosing segment comprising a first exposure to EPO at a dose of from about 150 to about 2400 IU / kg, capable of stimulating reticulocyte production, followed by a second exposure to EPO at a dose of from about 600 to about 2400 IU / kg or from about 25 to about 100 IU / kg / day, capable of supporting the maturation of reticulocytes into neocytes and, ultimately, into red blood cells. Favorably, the dosing segment can be cyclic or repeated any number of times and according to any time schedule to provide or maintain any desired total number of red blood cells and / or hemoglobin concentration. In addition, treatment methods using a combined EPO dosing regimen are provided, as well as kits. |
