SUBSTANCE: method for separating hydrocarbon contaminants from a contaminated solid material includes supplying a contaminated solid material to a working chamber, moving a contaminated solid material through a working chamber, heating a contaminated solid material by external heating of a working chamber to evaporate hydrocarbon contaminants from a contaminated solid material, removing steam generated as a result of heating and containing vaporized hydrocarbon contaminants, collecting, condensing and recovering the vaporized hydrocarbon contaminants, treating the vaporized hydrocarbon contaminants with an effective amount of ozone.
