The invention relates to N- (trans-4-isopropylcyclohexylcarbonyl) -D-phenylalanine (nateglinide) in a new crystalline form "G" and a method for its preparation. Also provided is a method for preparing chirally pure nateglinide by treating its lower alkyl ester with a base to form an alkali metal salt and liberating the product from this salt by appropriate acid addition. Another aspect of the invention is a process for preparing nateglinide in the "H" crystalline form from other crystalline modifications of nateglinide. |
