METHOD OF OBTAINING FORMALDEHYDE FROM DIMETHYL ETHER AND A CATALYST |
abstract |
Dimethyl ether is converted to formaldehyde using a supported catalyst containing molybdenum and / or vanadium oxides. The surface density of the oxide (s) is higher than the surface density of the isolated monomeric oxides, while the bulk crystalline oxide (s) of molybdenum and / or vanadium is essentially absent. The conversion to formaldehyde and the selectivity of the formation of formaldehyde are increased compared with the data given for known catalysts. A supported catalyst containing molybdenum and / or vanadium oxides is also described, wherein the carrier contains one or more reducible metal oxides, preferably a layer or layers of one or more reducible metal oxides deposited on the surface of the carrier from particles of aluminum oxide or zirconium dioxide. |
